Northeast Brazil Series

The Northeast Brazil series is a sculptural tribute to the cultural, architectural, and natural heritage of Brazil’s semi-arid Northeast.

Composed of two collections—Cactus and Small Houses & Church—the series evokes the region’s vibrant identity through minimalist wire forms.

While the Cactus collection honors the resilient flora of the Caatinga biome, symbolizing protection and celebration, the Small Houses pay homage to the region’s humble yet elegant vernacular architecture, shaped by colonial influences and collective memory.

Each piece is handcrafted using recycled galvanized steel, repurposed from Rio de Janeiro’s Carnival. They are produced in collaboration with artisans from samba school communities, merging traditional savoir-faire with sustainable contemporary design.

Northeast Brazil debuted at São Paulo Design Week 2025, affirming Atelier‑R’s commitment to poetic form, environmental consciousness, and Brazilian cultural expression.
